gentlemen, start yr engines! the manatee has been taken off the state's endangered species list...

seriously, though, now they'll just be listed as "threatened." or threatening. or something like that.
but who's on Ricotta Park's endangered talent list? that's right: rob roy.
for you jacksonvillians, you know you can't escape this guy. he's everywhere, playing shows every night and trying to make it happen. and don't get me wrong --- the guy gets an A for effort, but a big D for delivery. i couldn't find an mp3 download of his new track, "Yan Queen," but you can listen to it on Rob's myspace page. i know, i know --- it's beyond bad, but we need to think positively; we need to have a community-wide intervention for this guy before he writes a lyric so bad that Yahweh hisself comes down and beats him on his head-piece. Billy Ocean's rolling over in his grave...or his bed...i don't know. he might not even be dead. anyway, there's still hope...i hope. and poor rob's not alone - we've got a plethora of artists in Jax that need rehabilitation. hopefully Ricotta Park and our awareness-raising endangered talent list can make the future a little bit brighter in our little corner of heaven.
on the upside of local entrepreneurial news, Agnes Lopez is steadily developing a name for herself as a premier professional photographer in town. she started in hair and makeup but has gradually shifted her focus to the other side of the lens. she does comp cards, weddings, commercial and fashion work and she'll be shooting Ricotta Park's lingerie catalog as soon as we start making (or wearing) lingerie. good stuff.
and our buddy Urban Jax posted an item from the JaxDailyRecord about John Inseta and Jason Parry's new restaurant "Chew," which is opening in the space formerly occupied by Ieyasu on Adams St.
first of all, i didn't even know that Ieyasu closed until two weeks ago. i really liked the place when i ate there a year and-a-half or so ago. second, i've partied w/ Inseta before and he's a good guy. he knows his food and he knows how to have a good time. that said, "Chew," despite having a terrible name (think of something less visceral, dudes), should probably be a decent spot to check out.

and there's not much news in our Ahmadinijadiwatch today except that Iran has restarted uranium enrichment, contending that it's their right to do so under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. Bush said they've got weeks, not months, to respond to the incentive package we've sent them. Mahmoud said such a package is like "trading candies for gold." so yeah, that's that. look at the guy --- he's loving this! and we love him!
...but we love ApplComm more. the show at TSI was great last night. Allah willing, we'll be posting pics soon. if not today, tomorrow. if not tomorrow, then probably not at all.
salud!
